Questions You Should Know about Best Abb Inverters
5 Questions to ask your ABB Inverter Drive supplier
An ABB variable speed drive is a big investment for your business, so once its installed, how do you ensure its going to be looked after properly?
1. Is your drive supplier qualified to maintain your ABB drive?
ABB runs the Authorized Value Provider (AVP) programme, and only Partners who have demonstrated their knowledge and level of service are invited to participate and provide qualified service and repairs.
Look out for the AVP logo for reassurance your provider is qualified and approved by ABB.

2. Will your drive supplier provide a bespoke maintenance programme?
ABB recommend annual inspection and have a recognised Service regime in place for all the various drive families.
As and when a drive needs servicing very much depends on the environment its located in and also its use. If you have a number of different applications, you need to ensure you have an appropriate plan in place. You dont want to miss out on a service if a drive is heavily used and alternatively, you dont want to service a drive unnecessarily when it could quite happily run for a few more years.
3. Will your drive supplier be able to provide a back-up of parameters and other valuable data?
Your drives parameters are key to your drive performance and if your drive ever did need replacing, you want to be able to re-install the parameters as quickly as possible with any changes made on the drive since initial install.
4. Does your drive supplier only install genuine ABB parts?
ABB Drives are recognised as the best in the world for a reason, their quality and customer focused support. You wouldnt buy a Dyson and then replace its parts with ones from Hoover, so why consider it for your drive investment?
ABB parts have been tested to the highest standard and by installing genuine parts the performance of your drive remains uncompromised.

Inverter FAQs
The simple answer is yes; however, the answer needs further explanation and is slightly different for different types of load.
Applications such as centrifugal fans and pumps (the ones that are governed by Cube Law) are called variable torque loads. When they run at low speeds the motors normal cooling fan is perfectly capable of keeping the motor cool as at low speeds the motor uses very little power.
Applications such as conveyors, crushers, or mixers are generally called constant torque loads and still use considerable power even at slower speeds when under load. The motor is less efficient at lower speeds and can become very warm as the motors cooling fan is not able to dissipate the heat (it runs at the same speed as the motor). To overcome this problem motors for this type of application are often supplied with a separate motor controlling the cooling (sometimes called a forced vent motor) and allows the motor to keep cool even at lower speeds.
If you have an application that requires very low speeds, you might want to consider using a gearbox or geared speed reducer.
