Tack measurement of self-adhesive, pressure-sensitive hot ...

Adhesive strength is one of the most important properties of pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs). Tack is the property of a pressure sensitive adhesive to bond to a surface under very light pressure. Pressure sensitive hot melts have the ability to quickly wet the surface they touch.

With competitive price and timely delivery, Cell Instruments sincerely hope to be your supplier and partner.

Test methods for the adhesive

There are four test methods used worldwide to evaluate the adhesive strength of a pressure sensitive hot melt.
LoopTack
Rolling ball Tack
Rolling Ball Tack
"Fast stick"

The adhesion value can distinguish between the relative adhesion for different PSAs and other properties such as:
"PeelAdhesion"
"AdhesiveFailTemperature"
Shear adhesion
&#;Viscosity
"MeltingPoint"

Loop Tack

The walking tack measurement has become the most reliable and most used. This test method has proven to generate reproducible and consistent data. For self-adhesive products such as tapes and labels, loop bonding is the most commonly used published bonding parameter. Microprocessor-controlled loop stitch testers independently increase the reliability of loop stitch tests.

Loop tack test values

Rolling Ball Tack

The rolling ball measurement method is a simple test result and provides unique values that cannot be compared with other tack tests. A high loop tack value does not match a low roll ball tack value. The roll ball nail method is a very good practical testing method for direct QC testing at the production site to check the consistency of a self-adhesive coating.

Probe tack measurement

This test method was most commonly used as a test measuring adherence to a human fingertip. The test values were unstable and proved too sensitive to variations in coating weight and sample preparation.

Quick Stick measurement

A loop tack test has proven to be more reliable than a quick sick test. A quick stick test set-up is difficult to make because a moving substrate must be stuck and then the force is measured to tear the substrates apart. A peel adhesion test provides better additional information about the properties of a pressure-sensitive hot melt adhesive.

finger Tack Test

Vingertack is often used as a &#;human test&#; it requires no equipment except a human. Although experts believe in their own fingertip methods, it is a subjective, unscientific test. No PSAs, except PSAs that come into contact with the skin, are bound to human skin. The finger stick test deals with many variables, such as skin roughness, moisture, temperature and fat. Better use your eyes to read a technical datasheet.
