Springbar Canvas Tent Review: The Outfitter - Is it Worth it? - WifiBum

Springbar is an iconic brand in the canvas tent world. Originally designed by Jack Kirkham in the s, it’s one of the few American brands that still manufactures tents in the U.S.

With competitive price and timely delivery, Sunday Campers sincerely hope to be your supplier and partner.

Springbar Canvas (aka Kirkhams) has a full line of tents that are hand-sewn in Salt Lake City with U.S.-sourced poles and stakes.

Many will use a Springbar for family camping, hunting, base camps, festivals, and anywhere you need a high-quality and weather-resistant tent.

Springbar is #2 on my list of best canvas tents.

I have over 15 articles on canvas tents. Get everything you need to know, including discount codes.

I’ve used a Springbar for casual weekend camping, long-term camping, and as a basecamp for working remotely (learn more about that here).

You may not be using it for the same reasons I am, but the benefits (and some negatives) will definitely cross over to your use.

I purchased my Springbar in May . I’ve had it for about 2.5 years and tested it often while working remotely and camping.

It’s seen heavy rain, snow, ferocious blown sand, and more.

No matter which canvas tent you go with (read Kodiak vs Springbar here), make sure to check out my new post about the best hammer for pounding in and removing the large 12 inch stakes!

Canvas Tents Overview

Let me be clear from the outset… you don’t get a canvas tent for its lightweight or convenience. It’s not for that overnight trip with friends. As long as you know that, you will better appreciate what a Springbar or any canvas tent offers.

I had never heard of canvas tents until I began on this journey to look for an “office” tent since I work remotely, but wasn’t very productive on the road.

They aren’t hard to set up, but they do take time… especially with 12 inch stakes.

There are basically three canvas cabin-tent brands to choose from: Springbar or Kodiak or WhiteDuck.

Springbar® Canvas Tents

We have had our Traveler 5 for over 20 years and it is still as good as new. For the last 4-5 years we have been using our RV more than the tent, but it still see’s ~ 30 days a season in the early spring and late fall/winter when we can’t get a trailer into our camping areas. I cannot speak for the quality of the non-USA made models since I have never used one, but I highly recommend the Springbar tents! We just inherited my father in laws tent and it is still going strong after 40+ years. If you take care of the tent, it will take care of you and future generations.

I've had a few Springbar canvas duffels for camp gear and stuff. I had been using this smaller duffel for travel. It's perfect to use as an overflow bag if I need to throw clothes in there to make room in my checked bag for trinkets. My one complaint is that it only had handles and I couldn't add a shoulder strap. I bought this larger duffel and it's the perfect size for carry on or to be a checked bag.

I was looking at the Fjallraven canvas duffel but they wanted $95 for it. Then I remembered Springbar and it was less than half the cost for the same quality. This size is perfect because it can easily be a carry-on, checked bag, or I can throw it over my motorcycle and use it for weekend rides. I'm very pleased with it!

We have not set it up yet, maybe this weekend to get familiar with it. looking forward to actually using it, seems like a high-quality product. We have some camping trips set up for this summer, so hopefully it’s reputation as one of the best tents made is true. Will post a other review later.

I have had a Skyliner for about a year. I wanted to get something smaller for my son to use on Boy Scout campouts. This thing is wonderful. The first weekend he used it we had some rain showers come through and it was water-tight without evening seasoning it. It held up like a bunker in the wind. Good size for two people on sleeping pads or one person on a low cot. I love all my Springbar tents.
